Acorns Children's Hospice

At Acorns Children's Hospice we care for a child with complex medical needs and understand that this can place unimaginable demands on a family, both physically and emotionally. We understand that when time is short every moment is precious, which is why, as well as providing specialist palliative care, we help families to make lasting memories.

We provide a happy homely environment where children can experience all kinds of great activities, meet new friends, or relax and enjoy some quiet time. Our experienced, skilled staff take time to understand each child’s individual requirements, listening to any concerns and adapting activities according to their needs.

We aim to make every day a special day for children who spend time with us at a hospice.

With costs going up all around us, the cost of providing our care is increasing more than ever and to ensure we can keep the doors open to our three hospices, we need to raise more money in 2025.

Last financial year we spent £13 million on care services, which was 85p from every £1 going directly to care services. 15p of every £1 is spent on other essential running costs of the charity.

In the past year, we have supported 781 children and 1,045 families across the West Midlands, including those who have been bereaved. Funds raised would be supporting the care services we provide to these children and families, and the many more families diagnosed every day, who reach out to our support without our hospices but also our Outreach services.

Funds raised thought the ride could help run our hospices, which cost £9,000 to run just one of our hospices for one day. £3,840 could fund the role of a Sibling Support Worker for a month or £12,340 could fund the role of a Family Practitioner for three months, as we support the whole family through the challenging times.

While £14 could provide the funds for a child to have a half an hour session with a hospice Physiotherapist and £35 could pay for a child to enjoy a 20-minute multisensory session with a nurse.
